I know, what is Mr Hartshorn thinking ? Putting a bright pink vegetable into an otherwise unctious, sweet gooey chocolate brownie. Let me explain; by adding the beetroot you reduce both the amount of sugar and fat needed to make it, also it makes it even 'gooier'.

 

So for this recipe please bring:

 

  • 100g butter (not low fat spread)

  • 250g caster sugar

  • 100g plain flour

  • 3 eggs

  • 200g dark or plain chocolate (not milk chocolate like galaxy or dairy milk. These chocolate bars have too much fat in and will cause the brownie to split)

 

Please bring 20p for:

  • Beetroot

  • coco powder
